art, wine, scenery and beaches...

Waupoos WineryThere is something for everyone to enjoy on the charming and historic island of Prince Edward County. Here are just a few suggestions of how guests can spend a half or full day outing from Shanti. (See an interactive map of the county here)

Suggested Half Day Tour
Why not start your day off at the nearby Studio Art Gallery to peruse the art of one of the County’s many successful artists? Only minutes from the gallery is the County Cider Company and the Waupoos Winery Estates. Both offer great vistas of the lake and surrounding countryside. Wine tasting is also popular with many visitors at both venues.

Suggested Full Day Tours
Start off your day searching for that special antique at a quaint, nearby antique shop. Afterwards visit the small and picturesque Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park, located 200 feet above the Bay of Quinte. Be sure to take in the amazing panoramic view which is a must-see for every visitor to the County. Take in the scenery while having lunch at Lake on the Mountain Inn, a historical stone building restaurant. A ten minute scenic drive along historic Loyalist Parkway brings you to the newly-opened Claramount Inn and Spa, overlooking Picton Bay. Why not pamper yourself with a sampling of their spa treatments?

For nature lovers, an alternative full day tour could take you to Little Bluff Conservation Area, for a short hike along nature trails, and a swim. Afterwards visit Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory, situated at the southeastern-most tip of the County, on Long Point Peninsula. The observatory is a haven for birds year round.

For sun seekers there is the popular summer destination of Sand Banks Provincial Park. It boasts one of the finest beaches in Ontario and phenomenal sand dunes. Build sandcastles, have a picnic, and refresh yourself with a swim.
