Q. Is there wifi.
Yes, wifi is available everywhere on the property. However, we do invite you to disconnect. If you need to connect, please do so discreetly.
Q. When does the ferry leave for Wolfe Island?
A free car/passenger ferry departs hourly from Kingston. See here for the schedule.
Q. I don’t have personal transportation. What are my options?
Kingston is serviced by Via Rail and Megabus. Click on Find Us under the the Contact and Location icon for more details about transport to Shanti. Please call us in advance to arrange a complimentary pick up.
Q. I have allergies. Are there any animals living indoors at Shanti?
A. Our cats live in our private residence, separate from all guest accommodation. A small dog, Gypsy, is now part of the Shanti family. She lives in an area separate from guests but spends some time with us fireside in the main inn lounge.
Q. Can I bring my pet to Shanti?
A. Although we are animal lovers we are unable to accommodate pets.
Q. When is check in and check out time?
A. Check in is any time after 2pm, and check out (of rooms) is by 12pm with departure by 2pm.
Q. Is there anything I need to bring?
A.Bedding and towels are supplied. We recommend you bring indoor shoes, a flashlight, a hair dryer, an umbrella, a water bottle, your own yoga mat if you prefer (we have many mats available), your own pillow if you can’t sleep without it, and in the warmer months remember to bring your bathing suit, an extra towel and water shoes. If you want to go for a bike ride, bring your bicycle, otherwise bikes are available for rent on the island.
Q. Can you accommodate special diets?
A. Shanti can accommodate a vegan and gluten free diet, and minor food allergies, given 1 week notice. We are unable to accommodate major dietary restrictions or a raw food diet.
Q. Can you describe the accommodation?
A. We offer semi-private (2 share), and shared (3-4 share) accommodation all with ensuite bathrooms. Retreat rates are indicated according to room occupancy. We try to accommodate room requests based on availability.
During a mid-week getaway, you can choose between private garden or water view rooms and waterside cabins.
Q. Are couples provided private accommodation?
A. Yes, always.
Q. Are private rooms available for a single person?
A. Space permitting we offer private rooms at a single supplement charge of $50+HST per person per day.
Q. Is Shanti open year round?
A. Shanti is open from the beginning of April until the end of November. Please click on the retreat lineup icon of the website for upcoming retreats.
Q. Is the Retreat Center heated?
A. Yes, all buildings are fully winterized and heated.
Q. Is there air-conditioning at Shanti?
A. No, given our rural, waterside location summer evenings are generally very pleasant. All bedrooms have window fans that remove warm air in the day and bring in cooler air at night. Air conditioning is available in the yurt for yoga, workshops and corporate meetings.
Q. Can I extend a retreat stay?
A. Yes you can join us in advance of a retreat or stay a few days after. Please see the B&B page for rates.
Q. Are Shanti Gift Certificates available?
A. Yes, Shanti Gift Certificates make the perfect gift for someone special. Gift certificates are available in any dollar amount and have no expiry date.
Q. Is there anything I can purchase at Shanti?
A. Yes, there is a retail space carrying some of our favorite books, CDs, jewelry, clothing items, healthy snacks and more. We accept cash, credit and debit, but not American Express.
Q. Is Shanti available for group rental?
A. Yes, we can accommodate groups up to 29 for a mid-week, weekend or week long rental. Please contact us for availability and rates.
Q. Is the yoga taught suitable for beginners?
A. Retreats hosted by Darin and Wendy are suitable for all levels.

Q. How far in advance should I book a retreat?
A. If there is a particular retreat date that you are interested in, we recommend that you book as soon as possible to confirm your space.
