There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is a miracle.

A scenic ferry ride will bring you to us…
From Toronto and Montreal it takes about 3 hours to reach the Wolfe Island ferry dock in downtown Kingston where the free ferry (Wolfe Island Ferry) departs hourly.

Coming from Ottawa the drive is about 2 hours.

Americans from New York State can conveniently reach Shanti by ferry (Hornes Ferry) from Cape Vincent, NY. This service operates approximately from mid May to mid October. Otherwise, the 1000 Islands International Bridge is nearby.  Alternatively, there is  a shuttle service available from Syracuse airport and watertown, NY, to Kingston and the Wolfe Island ferry terminal.

Driving Directions
Coming from the East or West on the 401 turn off at exit 623. Travel South on highway 15 until it ends at highway 2. Turn right on highway 2, and continue for a few kilometers. Once you cross the drawbridge enter the left lane and prepare to turn left into the Wolfe Island Ferry Dock (next to the gas station).

Once you’re on Wolfe Island, we’re only a 5 minute drive away.  We highly recommend setting your trip meter to zero once you arrive on the island.

After leaving the ferry continue 100 meters and turn left at the stop sign.

Continue 4 km until you reach Waldo’s Lane on your left.  Note that on your way to Waldo’s Lane you will pass the 9th line. Continue 400 meters past the 9th line and prepare to turn left onto  Waldo’s Lane.  Look for the Shanti Retreat sign as well as the cartoon character Waldo on the hydro pole leading to Waldo’s lane. You’ve gone too far if you reach the 10th line.

Once  on Waldo’s lane continue straight for  500 meters to reach Shanti.

Upon arrival,  please unload your bags at the front of the house, and afterwards park in the designated guest parking area. Welcome to Shanti!

Wolfe Island Ferry
There are a couple of options available to reduce your waiting time. If possible, come earlier to catch the 2pm or 3pm ferry. The 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm ferries will be busier. You may consider alternative travel options listed below.

It is also an option to park your car in Kingston at the public ferry terminal lot, walk on the ferry and arrange, in advance, a complimentary pick up.

Wolfe Island Ferry Tips
During the peak summer months and holiday long weekends we recommend you arrive one hour before the ferry departs. At other times of the year arrive at least half an hour before. If you’re waiting for the ferry why not enjoy what beautiful downtown Kingston has to offer. Leave your car in the ferry lineup while you enjoy one of the many cafes, shops, and restaurants on Princess Street only a few minutes walk away. Once aboard the Wolfe Island Ferry memories of the 401 will be far behind you.

Alternative Travel Options
The most economical way to reach Kingston is by bus. Megabus Bus Line offers service from Toronto’s downtown terminal at Bay and Dundas as well as from Scarborough, Whitby, Brockville and Montreal.

You can also reach Kingston by Via Rail

From either the Kingston bus or train station it’s a short 15 minute taxi ride ($15) to the Wolfe Island Ferry.

No car, no problem. Call us in advance to arrange a complimentary pick up, and to confirm when you board the ferry.  Once on Wolfe Island, we’ll look for you at the corner bench next to Fargo’s General Store (this is a 100 meter walk from the ferry).
